Japanese Stab Binding is a bookbinding technique that punches (or "stabs") through all pages of the book in the sewing process. The sewing patterns can be basic or elaborate depending on how many holes are punched. In this class you will learn the basic technique, and practice with one or two variations, ending class with 2-3 completed books. This is a virtual class through Zoom. Materials will be available to pick up at Small Studio ahead of time, and students will participate from home using the provided Zoom link.
Materials:
- Computer or mobile device with Zoom capabilities
- Waxed linen thread (a few yards provided)
- Needle Awl
- Sewing needle (provided)
- Pliers to help grip needle while sewing
- Pencil
- Ruler
- Self healing cutting mat (or scrap cardboard to punch into)
